Kirkehavn, also written Kirkehamn, is an outport and is considered the main place on the island of Hidra in Flekkefjord municipality in Vest-Agder. Kirkehavn is located in an enclosed harbor area. Hidra Church, an octagonal and cross-shaped church from 1854, is clearly visible when sailing in from the sea. The building environment i Kirkehavn, which is located along the sea is largely well taken care of. Kirkhavn has well-preserved cultural heritage from settlements, stone walls and gutters. The site has a long history of fishing and shipping. Remains of settlements from the stone age have been found in peat layers in the harbour. Kirkehavn is classified as a particularly protected area in Vest-Agder. Text Wikipedia, Creative Commons (BY-SA)
