Moholmen lighthouse was established in 1914. Originally it had a 3rd order lens, but the lens and lantern were moved to Skrova in 1922 when the new lighthouse was established there. The iron tower of Moholmen was dismantled and moved to Tranøy lighthouse in 1936, on the other side of the Vestfjord. A smaller tower and a lantern replaced the original lighthouse. Moholmen lighthouse was electrified in 1963 and automated i 1974. The lighthouse is owned by the NCA.
